This coastline is almost rectilinearly oriented from north to south, maintaining a similar overall exposure to dominant NW and W swells among regions. The shore is characterized by extensive sandy beaches interspersed with limestone, sandstone, shale or granitic reefs in both the intertidal and the shallow subtidal.
