Kelp Restoration and Research in British Columbia: Overview of the Kelp Rescue Initiatives research and restoration projects in British Columbia. KRI was founded at the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre (BC, Canada) in 2021, and has been developing science-based solutions for kelp restoration since. We've tested and compared different restoration methods, trialed urchin management approaches, quantified the importance of kelp genetic diversity and thermal tolerance on restoration success, amongst other things.

Kelp Restoration in Tla'amin Territory: We would like to share our story of how we are helping kelp to regain a 'footing' in Tla'amin Territory. We have been gathering traditional knowledge on the importance of kelp, and the food it provides to Tla'amin people, mapping and surveying existing kelp extent and building a kelp nursery for cultivation of kelp for restoration. We will share our journey to revive and restore the delicate balance of kelp ecosystems and fortify our strong connections to kelp and the many fish and food resources that kelp provides.
