Through this database, the KFA also provides monitoring standards to help ensure data quality and control.\n\nThis grant is intended to encourage projects to upload data and share information about the outcomes of their kelp conservation projects.\n\n## Eligible Activities\nThis grant is open to new or ongoing projects which have worked or are working to protect or restore kelp forests.\nProjects must be ongoing or have been completed within the last 4 years.\nA typology of eligible activities can be [found here](https://kelpforestalliance.com/kelp-forest-challenge-typology).\n\n## Who Can Apply?\nAny legally incorporated body in any [eligible](https://www.dfat.gov.au/international-relations/security/sanctions/sanctions-regimes) country may apply.\nIncluding but not limited to NGOs, government groups, community groups, businesses.\n\n## Who Cannot Apply? \nIndividuals are not eligible to receive the grant.\n\n## Funding Available\nThe grant will provide one project with 3,000 AUD.\n     \n## Grant Requirements\nTo be eligible for this grant, projects must\n- Upload project data to the KFA platform; for one or more sites between 11/12/2025 and 31/12/2026\n- Maintain an active account on the Kelp Forest Alliance community\n- Meet the minimum data requirements (Appendix 1)\n- Submit a 1-page summary of how the funds were used once completed\n- Projects must have the rights to upload their data\n\n## Eligible Spending\nGrant funds may be used to support kelp forest conservation efforts or to increase awareness about kelp forests.\nEligible costs include;\n- Salaries, materials, or expenditures required to protect or restore a kelp forest\n- Materials or salary for communication campaigns\nIneligible costs include;\n- Capital expenses which are not used in the lab or field\n- Travel for scientific conferences - Food or drink expenditures\n- Operational overhead that would have occurred regardless\n\n## Selection Process\nA project will be selected by a random draw and will be notified within 4 weeks of the closing date.\nThe selected project will then be asked to submit a 1-page summary of how the funds will be used to ensure eligibility.\nSummaries will be reviewed by the KFA within 2 weeks of submission and approved funds will be transferred within 2 weeks after that.\n\n## How To Upload\nAll data is to be submitted through the KFA web platform, a tutorial is [available here](https://kelpforestalliance.com/data-community-platform/users-guide-to-the-kelp-forest-alliance-community-platform).\n\n## Contact & Support\nAll questions may be directed to kfa@kelpforestalliance.com, or through our [Contact page](https://kelpforestalliance.com/contact).\n   \n## Appendix 1: Data Completeness\nTo be eligible for this grant, project data must meet a minimum level of completeness. Through this database, the KFA also provides monitoring standards to help ensure data quality and control.\nThis grant is intended to encourage projects to upload data and share information about the outcomes of their kelp conservation projects.\nEligible Activities\nThis grant is open to new or ongoing projects which have worked or are working to protect or restore kelp forests.\nProjects must be ongoing or have been completed within the last 4 years.\nA typology of eligible activities can be found here.\nWho Can Apply?\nAny legally incorporated body in any eligible country may apply.\nIncluding but not limited to NGOs, government groups, community groups, businesses.\nWho Cannot Apply?\nIndividuals are not eligible to receive the grant.\nFunding Available\nThe grant will provide one project with 3,000 AUD.\nGrant Requirements\nTo be eligible for this grant, projects must\n\nUpload project data to the KFA platform; for one or more sites between 11/12/2025 and 31/12/2026\nMaintain an active account on the Kelp Forest Alliance community\nMeet the minimum data requirements (Appendix 1)\nSubmit a 1-page summary of how the funds were used once completed\nProjects must have the rights to upload their data\n\nEligible Spending\nGrant funds may be used to support kelp forest conservation efforts or to increase awareness about kelp forests.\nEligible costs include;\n\nSalaries, materials, or expenditures required to protect or restore a kelp forest\nMaterials or salary for communication campaigns\nIneligible costs include;\nCapital expenses which are not used in the lab or field\nTravel for scientific conferences - Food or drink expenditures\nOperational overhead that would have occurred regardless\n\nSelection Process\nA project will be selected by a random draw and will be notified within 4 weeks of the closing date.\nThe selected project will then be asked to submit a 1-page summary of how the funds will be used to ensure eligibility.\nSummaries will be reviewed by the KFA within 2 weeks of submission and approved funds will be transferred within 2 weeks after that.\nHow To Upload\nAll data is to be submitted through the KFA web platform, a tutorial is available here.\nContact &amp; Support\nAll questions may be directed to kfa@kelpforestalliance.com, or through our Contact page.\nAppendix 1: Data Completeness\nTo be eligible for this grant, project data must meet a minimum level of completeness.
